We all know the facts:
everything we do has an impact on the environment.
This is why
action
is needed to preserve and maintain our world. Our environment will
flourish or falter
depending
on the choices businesses, as well as consumers, make.
This is why Tupelo Manufacturing is committed to making
sustainable furniture
and
creating a Green working environment. Our goal is to be in harmony with the
world around
us so we
can help the world thrive.
What Makes Us
Green:
You will never see
our products in a landfill a year after being made. Why? Because Tupelo
Manufacturing prides itself on creating USA made furniture that is
built
for
a long life span. Long life spans mean less landfill waste.
What
does this mean for you? It means buying the most sustainable and
eco-friendly furniture
on the market.
In
order to save energy, employees work 4 ten hour days. This saves
up to 20% of gas
usage
and greatly reduces emissions. Car pooling is encouraged and used.
Our
lumber is from American companies that recognize the importance of
our
environment.
The companies promote natural regeneration as well as replanting
500,000 to
1,500,000
seedlings each year. In fact, our major supplier has USDA
verification of sustainability.
The
finishing products we use are all non-hazardous and are HAPS
compliant. Our glues
are
water-based.
To
lessen energy consumption by reducing electrical demand, we use
the latest
technology
from
Ingersoll
Rand.
Recycling
is assured at Tupelo Manufacturing. Our wood scraps are recycled
through
a program with Norbord. Cardboard is recycled and our foam
supplier has 0% of
its
by products going to landfills. Scrap foam is returned for carpet
underlay or
shredded
for
use in other goods.
Personnel
recycle cans and paper, among other things, in order to reduce
landfill waste.
Our fabric suppliers are all aware of the
need to preserve the environment.
Recycling,
reusing scrap materials, increasing energy efficiency by exploring
alternate energy
sources,
having fabric made from metal free fibers, natural compostable
fibers, and PVC free
fibers
are just a few ways that these suppliers are working to reduce
environmental impact.
Tupelo
Manufacturing will certainly take advantage of any opportunities
that arise
to
promote a green workplace. Our commitment is a journey to a
sustainable design
and
a healthy environment.
